Abstract
1. Oxymetazoline evoked bradycardia in isolated rabbit atria, which was dose dependent.
2. Atropine did not abolish the bradycardiac effect.
3. Prazosin, phenoxybenzamine and yohimbine did not affect the bradycardiac effect but phentolamine reduced the effect partially.
4. Propranolol reduced the bradycardiac effect markedly but practolol did not.
5. Tetracaine, tetrodotoxin and tetraethylammonium reduced the bradycardiac effect.
6. From these results it was inferred that the bradycardia by oxymetazolne was not relates to a-adrenoceptors.
